How to choose a switch?
Within our switches range, we have several options available depending on your applications and configuration needs: Switches without management and management switches.
A switch without management, is a device of the type plug-and-play, to which the cables of different equipment simply connect and they will automatically be able to communicate with each other and transfer data. All this without the need to make any setting adjustments.
A management switch is a device that provides a series of advanced setting functions and options that allow you to configure the network to Layer 2. It allows you to customize the configuration according to network needs, and it allows you to monitor performance and control what is going on with all connected devices.
Then we present a comparative frame with the options that offers each of them:
| Function | Switch without management | Switch with management |
| Plug & Play | Yes | No |
| Applications | Small networks or to add working groups to a large network | For professional use as data centers or corporate networks. Allows us to customize the network at Layer 2 and the functions of each port individually |
| Character | Fixed configuration, not admit configuration interface | Customizable configuration according to needs |
| Vlans Management | No | Yes |
| Control | Defect Setup (Limited) | Control over access, SNMP priority and control over network traffic |
| Advanced functions | No | IPV4, DHCP, QoS, Vlans, IP Route Definition, Redundance, Cli, ARP |
| Economic characteristics | Do not involve a great investment | Higher price but more benefits |
